Campaigne Against Delamere Development
Norley is a traditional Cheshire village with a strong and active community, described by its residents as “Norley – a village alive”. The 2001 Census recorded 1186 people living in 460 households in the parish of Norley. The village is located approximately 12 miles from Chester, between the market towns of Frodsham and Northwich, and includes the Hatchmere area immediately beside Delamere Forest. The close relationship of Delamere Forest with the village is reflected in the original name of “Norlegh”, meaning “north clearing in the forest”.
The village boasts two pubs, a shop, a primary school, a village hall, two churches and even a Chinese restaurant! Village life is active, with a number of clubs and societies meeting regularly.
A map of Norley showing the Parish boundaries can be viewed on the Cheshire West and Chester website.
